PA Parent & Family Alliance:

  • PA Parent & Family Alliance provides free, statewide support to parents and caregivers whose children (or young adults) are dealing with mental-health, emotional, behavioral, learning or social challenges.
  • Their services include one-on-one support via a Family Support Partner (FSP) — a trained parent/caregiver with lived experience who listens, offers guidance, helps navigate services (mental-health, school systems, social services, etc.), and supports families through challenges.
  • They run weekly virtual support groups / check-ins where parents and caregivers can connect with others in similar situations — for peer support, sharing experiences, coping, and mutual encouragement.
  • They maintain a large library of educational resources, tip sheets, webinars, guides, podcasts and more — covering mental health, school issues (IEPs, truancy, special education), behavioral health, substance use, and family well-being.
  • Importantly — their services are not therapy or counseling; rather, they offer peer-based support, resource navigation, advocacy help, and community / parent-to-parent connection.

Welcome!

We’re so glad you found us. As parents of a child with intellectual and mental health disabilities, we know how hard it can be to find the right support and understanding. That’s why we created Horizons to Hope: a space built by parents, for parents, where families like ours can find encouragement, connection, and hope.

Whether this journey is new for you or something you’ve been walking for years, you are not alone. Our mission is to make things a little easier by sharing resources, services, and stories that can truly make a difference for your child and your family.

If there’s a provider, service, or program that has helped your family and isn’t listed here yet, we’d love to know about it. Use our “Add a Community Resource” form to share it and help another family on their path.

If you believe in our mission, please consider donating to help us grow our databases and continue to reach families in new areas. Together, we can grow a supportive community built on care, understanding, and hope for all our special families.
